November 2008

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your support and involvement at St. John the Baptist School. The students are working hard and enjoying a Christ-filled education. I would like to personally thank every parent and/or volunteer who is helping make the education available at St. John’s the best it can be.

Thanksgiving is coming and with it comes the annual collection of nonperishable foods for the St. Vincent DePaul Society. The men and women of the St. Vincent’s Society work quietly behind the scenes helping people in need. Encourage your student to bring in some food items before the Thanksgiving Mass on November 26th. Thank you for your generous support.

PLEASE CONTINUE TO SAVE YOUR BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION and CAMPBELLS LABELS. These programs give financial support to St. John’s at no additional cost to school families. Remember to purchase your Scrip Certificates (75% of the profits are returned to you for tuition). Also, we are collecting used printer cartridges and old cell phones. These items are redeemed for money and help the school keep up with the rising cost of paper.

Please post the November calendar that is enclosed for easy reference. Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held at school on the following dates: Nov. 5, Nov. 6, and Nov. 7. November 7th regular classes are cancelled all day for conferences. We have NO SCHOOL on November 7th, 27th, and 28th. Reminder: Every Wednesday students are dismissed at 2:15 PM, please try and be here on time. Thank you.

Keep the second graders in your prayers as they learn about the sacrament of reconciliation. They will receive this sacrament for the first time the evening of November 24th.

Thank you for supporting our annual Book Fair. Mrs. Kawiecki appreciates all the volunteer help. With their help our school had a successful Safari Book Fair and received a lot of great items for our school library.

Please contact your child’s teacher with any concerns or suggestions you may have. When the home-school connection works as a team, great things happen.

Enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday and remember to thank God for our many blessings.

Sincerely,

Janice L. Comito, Principal
